Can the Atlantean visions of Edgar Cayce teach us about our origins and future?
Date: 8/20/2019 6:30:00 PM
Topic of Study: Esotericism
Presenter: Aksel Suvari
Synopsis: Edgar Cayce, also known as "America's Sleeping Prophet", was a mystic and seer of early twentieth century America who achieved national renown for his channeled visions of past lives. After countless thousands of individual readings Cayce began to discern the fragmented history of the continent and civilization of Atlantis. What he discovered about the forgotten land was recorded by his sons and offers many insights into human nature, the rise and fall of nations and the possible futures that await us.

Are we better off or worse off today?
Date: 9/17/2019 6:30:00 PM
Topic of Study: History
Presenter: Matias Cumsille
Synopsis: The Philosophy of Freemasonry uses many tools such as symbols and rituals to help its members decipher the truth of reality from the fiction of one's perceptions. More now than ever, this skill is necessary. Our lives are constantly bombarded by stories of the downtrodden, the demise of the others, and the divisive nature of politics, education, and religion in society. Insomuch that many people believe the world now is in a worse state than in times past. Is this true? In this MPS meeting, we will look at the conditions of Man throughout the ages and compare them to our current state so we may separate truth from perception and answer the question of whether or not are we better off or worse off today?

Date: 10/15/2019 6:30:00 PM
Topic of Study: Theology
Presenter: Lavinia Rathbun
Synopsis: Tarot is essentially Kabbalah and it breaks down even further to reveal similarities to almost all the theologies of the mystery schools and initiatory practices, such as Freemasonry. The message hidden in plain sight is that of the alchemist or magician. It relates a formula for spirit to come into matter, and for the initiate, the formula for matter to rise again into spirit. We will examine how this all pertain's to the initiate's relationship with reality.

The Moral Philosophy of Immanuel Kant: Is Morality Self-Evident or Taught?
Date: 11/19/2019 6:30:00 PM
Topic of Study: Philosophy
Presenter: Elaine Phelen
Synopsis: What is morality? There is an aphorism, “manners maketh man,” which implies that manners are fundamental to our humanity. However, do good manners equate to morally upright behavior? In his book, The Fundamentals of the Metaphysics of Morality, German Philosopher Immanuel Kant explains the essential metaphysical laws governing moral experience. He argues that these laws are metaphysical in that they can be discerned "a priori," i.e. by the exercise of pure reason and without external reference. In Metaphysics, Kant lays the foundation for his entire philosophy by developing the concept of a "Categorical Imperative," an absolute, unconditional requirement that must be obeyed in all circumstances, justified as an end in itself. Simply stated: Act only when you can will that such action should become a Universal Law for all mankind.  Freemasonry has been described as "a peculiar system of morality." Is morality specific to certain groups of individuals or universal for all of humanity? Is correct moral action self-evident or must it be taught?  Join the discussion to learn more about Masonry, morality, and the moral philosophy of Immanuel Kant.

Synopsis: Surrealism is an artistic movement that began in 1924. Known for its unusual and mind-provoking images and writings, surrealism works to integrate the subconscious with the conscious mind. Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and Frida Kahlo are renowned for their artistic understanding of surrealism. We will interpret some of these famous artists' work in pursuit of better understanding of the human psyche and the realm of principles as well as its juxtaposition to Freemasonry.
