Do Planets Make Music?
Date: 9/1/2018 10:00:00 AM
Topic of Study: Art
Presenter: Pamela McDown
Synopsis: The epic space flights of the Voyager I and II soaring across our Solar System have left researchers on the edge of their seats for decades. Passing by Uranus, Jupiter and Saturn, the probes recorded various emissions and electromagnetic vibrations. NASA had the idea to make those into sound recordings. As it turns out those sounds are deeply familiar to the human ear. Is this just a coincidence or does the Universe have a soundtrack? Join us as we listen to music that is out of this world. Learn how the music of the spheres echoes the teachings of Freemasonry.

Does Masonry share a deeper link with Catholicism?
Date: 10/6/2018 10:00:00 AM
Topic of Study: History
Presenter: Tom Simota
Synopsis: At times, the Catholic church has seemed to be at odds with Freemasonry, but is there a deeper link between the two that most people are not aware of? Who are the Templars and how are they connected? During our time together, we shall explore ideas to see if the Masonic Legend is more closely woven together with tenets of Catholicism. Perhaps we will discover together a "middle ground" that bears fruit to ponder for continued study.

Date: 11/3/2018 10:00:00 AM
Topic of Study: Behavioral Science
Presenter: Lisa Woodworth
Synopsis: The “Trickster” is a Jungian archetype that appears in the narratives of many stories. You may know the trickster as the colorful character that entertains us by breaking taboos and playing tricks. He makes us laugh, often giving comic relief to any situation. While his actions are sometimes marginal in terms of morality, is the presence of a trickster a bad thing? Some scholars have the opinion that the elaborate schemes of these shapeshifters serve an important role in society. Please join us as we explore the role of the trickster and how this unique archetype has a connection to the teachings of Freemasonry.

What is the Difference Between Thought and Belief?
Date: 12/1/2018 10:00:00 AM
Topic of Study: Philosophy
Presenter: Tom Woodworth
Synopsis: According to one philosopher, "The unexamined life is not worth living." All people examine their lives to some extent. Here begins the initial journey of thinking about thinking. Is a thought the same thing as a belief? If not, what makes a thought a belief? In this meeting we will look at several primary ways in which philosophers think about perceptions and belief systems and how the study of philosophy relates to Freemasonry. Each persons own philosophy of life is a flame within, sometimes obvious and sometimes hidden. Join us in uncovering the mystery.
